Using noteflight and garage band software combined with the traditional methodology of music conservatories, students will learn to read, write and record music. Keyboards and guitars will be provided for the students. Students playing other instruments may bring their instruments to class to create music. The class will culminate in each student completing an original song as well as contribute to a group composition.

What You’ll Explore:

• Fundamentals of Music Theory: Students will learn the basics of rhythm, melody, and harmony.
• Songwriting Skills: Through creative exercises, students will write their own songs, focusing on crafting melodies, lyrics, and chord progressions.
• Instrument Exploration: Students will experiment with various instruments and sound sources to enhance their compositions.
• Group Projects and Collaboration: Working together on group composition, students will work as a production team to blend different musical ideas.
• Showcase Opportunities: Students will have the chance to share their original songs with classmates, friends and family.

Who Can Join: This class is ideal for elementary students who are enthusiastic about music and interested in writing their own songs. All ability levels are welcome.
